The manufacture dating provided here on our Web site is reproduced from the original Company register number log books.
Singer along with the Berlin-based agency "Culture Management Berlin" created a database of Singer sewing machine world productions in 2000 and 5 years later the list was finally finished and published in 2005.
This database is the first and only complete database of Singer sewing machines productions in the world.
Because we have not been able to locate the log books, serial numbers for the years 1851 to 1870 are not available at this time.
Serial numbers on Singer sewing machines manufactured prior to 1900 are numbers only.
This still seemed to confuse owners because it would show the allotted quantity and allotted date for each model.
What owners did not understand was that it was only the allotted date and not the date their sewing machine was made.
From April 1996 to 2005 Singer Customer Service used the Sewing Machine Blue Book dates of 1953-1959 for all "NA" and "NB" serial numbers.
